Early this week Sofia had a one-year check and shots with her doctor and was feeling a bit under the weather for a couple of days. Today, she was feelin' good again. So, we had a busy, smiley day.

CABIN FEVER

Yesterday, Clyde judged a musical festival from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Dylan and I stayed in at home all day enjoying quiet pursuits. Today, being inside so much during our rainy season caught up with us and Dylan and I had cabin fever. We talked Clyde into a trip out to Folsom Lake, one of our occasional get-aways. We packed up some cheese & crackers, our books and a treat for Dyl.The lake is sadly low, but still a pretty place to be. Very quiet on a day like this. We sat and read for a bit.
When there was a break in the rain, we took a walk. Now we're content to be home, warm and dry.

CLAIRE & JACK VISIT

In celebration of Sofia's first birthday, her Aunty Claire and cousin Jack conspired with her Daddy to surprise her and her Mummy with a visit all the way from New Zealand. While they were here, we found some time to get them to visit with us as well.

How lucky are we to have warm, loving family from all over the world?

GRANDPARENTS' GUIDE TO ENTERTAINING A ONE-YEAR-OLD

Bring home a package of paper towels from the store . . .
for climbing on.
A trip to the mall playground is good for at least 45 minutes of shared play, as well as getting good and tired for an afternoon nap.

Lunch at Starbucks provides Grandpa & Grandma an appreciated break -- and they don't mind if you bring your own lunch.

The 50-cent tigger boat is a good amusement, but liked best without the 50 cents added:

A bike ride around the house is always a good diversion. Bring your steering person with you!
