MOTHER'S DAY
Clyde treated me to a strawberry in champagne, homemade waffle, coffee and the Sunday paper. I'm so spoiled, and I love it.
Midday, Clyde and I fixed a lambchop dinner for Mom & Dad, who are not yet able to venture out away from their home. We joined them for strawberry shortcake and Mom opened her presents. Hopefully, next Mother's Day will find her back to her energetic, active self. Then we headed down to Clyde, Meredith & Sofia's house where we caught Sofia just waking up from a nap and not quite ready to face the world.
Clyde had just gotten a trumpet back from a company back east that not only repaired and cleaned it up, but restored it to its original condition, with the appropriate keys and pipes. Here he is showing it off to his Dad. The significance of this particular trumpet is a family story, starting with this having been Clyde, Sr.'s childhood horn that he passed on to one of his former and valued students, who, in turn, gave it back to Clyde when he purchased a new horn for himself. Clyde, Sr. then had it rebuilt for Clyde, III as his first trumpet. Subsequently, it got passed down to our nephew (Clyde, III's first cousin), Loren, who returned it to Clyde, III when he was grown. Clyde, III played the newly restored horn for a pro gig he played on the day before Mother's Day, and said it handled itself beautifully and represented its history well.
Clyde and Meredith just recently redid their backyard. For three weeks, while the grass was establishing itself, Barclay was not allowed out in his yard. You can just see how happy he is now to reclaim his space.
While enjoying this absolutely perfect, sunny spring day, there was some clowning going on . . .
Meredith & Clyde's table was beautiful and the barbeque was really yummy . . .

Sofia has her own picnic table, just the right size, with flowers from her garden . . .

And following, is what Mother's Day is all about . . .
