MY FIRST ICE SKATING LESSON

Geema has a brand new pair of ice skates that she really wants to use. She said she would love to have me come with her when she goes skating, but I can't stand up and skate by myself. Geema thought it would be more fun for both of us, if I could. So, today I had my first ice skating lesson with my new teacher, Genna.

Geema and Papa bought me a pretty ice skating dress in my favorite color . . .
I love it . . .

We went to the ice rink a long time before my lesson because I remembered a machine there that has chippies and Papa said he would let me choose which ones I wanted. Geema went out skating while Papa and I had hot chocolate and the popcorn I chose in the cafe. Geema came back in sometimes, because her new skates were stiff and she needed to take some breaks . . .

Sometimes when Geema came in for a rest, she would take me back out with her on the ice until I needed a rest. Papa and Geema ordered a pretty white pair of ice skates of my very own, but they didn't get here in time for my first lesson. But, I had my pretty pink dress, a new ice skating coat and a new pair of mittens to keep my hands warm . . .

I thought it was a lot of fun when Geema took me round and round the rink, but I couldn't figure out how to stand up by myself and keep my feet under me. Geema said that Genna would be able to teach me how to do that, so we sat down on the bench and waited for Genna . . .

The very first thing Genna did was to draw some spiders on the ice and we stomped on them . . .

I just had to stand up straight and get those spiders . . .

Then Genna took me skating. She told me what to do and I just did it . . .

I fell down a few times, but it didn't hurt and Genna said it was fine, so it didn't bother me . . .

I skated a little bit with Genna's help and then . . .

. . . she showed me how to help balance by putting my arms out . . .

By the end of my first lesson, I could take six or so steps all by myself and Genna gave me a high-five and said I did great.

I told Genna "thank you for stkating with me. I will skate with you again."

Geema and Papa kept telling me how proud they were of me. I said my legs were tired and they said that was because I worked so hard and did so well.

It was fun !
